Genny Tortora is a full professor of the Faculty of Mathematical, Natural and Physical Sciences, at the University of Salerno.
From 2000 to 2008, she was Dean of the Faculty of Mathematical, Natural and Physical Sciences, at the University of Salerno.
Her interests fall into the Software Engineering and Information Systems areas. In particular they include software-development environments, visual languages, geographical information systems and pictorial information systems.
She is author and co-author of several papers published in scientific journals or proceedings of refereed conferences, and is co-editor of three books.
In detail she is:

• Steering Committee Member of the IEEE Symposia on Human-Centric Computing Languages and Environments.
• Program Chair and Program Committee Member of several international conferences.
• Reviewer for international scientific journals.
• Referee for projects submitted to the Italian government by public organizations.
• Delegated by the Chancellor of the University of Salerno for the "Centro di Competenza Regionale" on Information and Communication Technology.
• Member of the National Council of the Deans of the Faculties of Science and Technology.
• Member of the Board of Professors of the PhD Program in Computer Science of the University of Salerno.
• Member of the Governing Council of the University of Salerno.
